NGPR Foster Dog Q&A

Thank you for fostering.  We want to find your foster dog the very best furever home. Answering the following questions honestly will help provide an accurate picture of your foster dog to potential adopters. If you do not know the answer to a question, you may answer N/A and if you can, please give the reason. You may not have cats, so the answer to the question "Is this dog good with cats" would be N/A - no cats in household.

Funny or cute anecdotes about the dog's personality help people feel they know the dog, so please include those. Questions about your dog's likes, habits and special qualities will help paint a more colorful portrait of your pooch. If you have any questions about this form or photo submission, please email sara@nationalpyr.org. Please send Sara your fabulous pooch photos for the listing, too.

People really respond to the photos, so suggestions for taking great photographs of your dog can be found here.

The most important things are

  1.  Give yourself plenty of time (do not try to rush this)
  2.  Do not stand over the dog. Try to put yourself at eye level with the dog.  Sit on the ground, kneel or sit on a chair.
  3.  Take photos outdoors in bright light.  Avoid overly sunny or shady places.
  4.  Be ready to take 10 or more photos for every photo you use (we will need a minimum of three good photos). Discard blurry or dark photos.
  5.  Zoom into your photos to see how clear they look
  6. Get full body shots; we can always crop to focus on facial expressions
  7. Videos can be very impactful - ask young person to help if you are not comfortable with creating a video

On an iPhone, in "Photos Settings", make sure "Download and Keep Originals" is checked when taking/sending Foster Dog photos. This allows you to send the highest quality image. When you are through, check "Optimize iPhone Storage" to return to storing photos on the iCloud. f your foster dog is in your care from one season to the next, please submit new photos (i.e., Spring, Summer Fall or Winter) to reflect the current season.
