Bambi, a happy, friendly, petite and beautiful adult Great Pyrenees girl with a long fluffy coat is waiting for you! This girl, 20 lbs underweight, came to rescue as a stray when she wandered with her male companion onto a farm who turned them in to the shelter. She absolutely loves meeting new people, walking right up to them, and ready with a lean and an offer of her paw in greeting. She is also great with other dogs – greeting them with a tail wag, and is extremely gentle with cats. Bambi is simply an all-around super sweet and friendly girl! Her gentle personality should be good with children as well. Bambi is not a big player but will join in for an occasional game of chase. Bambi has joined the Pyr club, willing to bark and warn off the occasional bird or blowing leaf. She loves to explore outside so will need a secure 5-foot fenced yard. Bambi would do well as an only pet but having a sibling dog who doesn’t require a playmate, or even a cat would be great too! Bambi is learning so much, getting comfortable in the house, and enjoys sitting beside her person offering her paw. She is learning to walk on leash and use the crate, and already knows how to sit for a treat! She has excellent manners during spa days - getting brushed and having pedicures, she enjoys it all! This gentle, sweet girl has so much to learn, ready to follow her person around, and give them all her love and devotion, and an offer of a Pyr paw and lean! Bambi will catch on quickly with that one special family ready to give her love and continue to help her learn—are you Bambi’s person(s)?

NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog.
Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
