Hazel is a young Pyrenees pup who’s friendly and playful. She’s a bit shy at first but loves being petted and talked to, just adoring all the attention and love she gets. She came to rescue with her two sisters from an owner surrender where they lived in a pen their entire life. She has done great learning to walk on a leash and is crate-trained where she will take her toys inside and quietly lay down. She is working on housebreaking and loves playing with her toys or carrying her blanket around. Hazel gets along well with all dogs and would love a canine brother to play with. She loves to pick up anything and run around the yard to play “keep away” with her friends. She was curious about cats at first but became very friendly with them after some correction and let them approach her and rub all over her legs! Hazel is such a happy, gentle girl and will do great with a family who has the desire to help her learn, and provide her with additional training and guidance to become the best Pyr girl. She is great when it is time to be groomed and even laid down for brushing, clipping and nail trims! This girl’s ideal family will have a large, 5-foot, fenced yard, an unlimited supply of toys, and a brother or two who like to play as much as she does. She loves it when her person gets close and tells her how beautiful she is. Hazel is a sweet and happy girl who will bring lots of fun and joy to her new family, wanting nothing but unconditional love in return.

NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog.
Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
