Nemo is a dainty little girl; a true beauty with a medium-length, soft coat which is growing back in nicely. Yes, we said growing in, as she came to rescue with another male where they and 3 other Pyr mixes were neglected. Sweet Nemo was not only extremely shy but in terrible condition with mange, hair loss, and double dew claws grown into her pads. Her coat was yellow, and all had such a look of defeat on their faces. It took a long time for this precious girl to approach her foster mom, let alone give a tail wag—today she will come running to her foster mom with a happy tail wag. Nemo is an extremely laid-back girl with a very gentle nature and is oh-so-gentle and friendly with the kitties She is ever the lady and quite enjoys spa days—grooming, clippers, brushing, nail trims and baths. It shows; look at her now--can there be more beauty in one dog? She has learned to walk nicely on a leash and knows her name! Nemo is a quiet girl who thinks all that barking is a waste of breath; that must be the mix in her!  Nemo is doing great with her housebreaking, does not mind confinement in a crate and learning to wait to be let out. Nemo is great with the other dogs, enjoying their companionship, but really has no interest in playing so would do just fine as an only dog. Nemo has a strong desire to please and is accepting all the love and pets you can shower on her. Her perfect home would be one that is quiet, and parents with an abundance of patience, guidance, and attention to give. Medical: Spayed, dewormed, negative for heartworm, up-to-date on vaccinations and currently on flea, tick and heartworm preventative. This dog travels with a Interstate Health Certificate required by the USDA confirming that all the above criteria have been met.

Fencing:  Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.

Fees: Adoption fees are determined on a sliding scale depending on age, location and transport.  Fees for dogs adopted locally start at $400 and can range up to $700 for puppies under six months. Puppies placed on spay/neuter contracts receive $100 back when the dog is spayed or neutered. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. Fees for senior dogs (7 or older) and foster dogs will be adjusted accordingly.

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
