Ghost---the master of the “Pyr Paw” is a young Great Pyrenees (possibly Husky) mix who thrives on affection! This boy loves the kitties so he would do well in a family with cats. Ghost is an energetic boy who would love to join you walking on trails and off-road hikes as he loves to go on adventures and rides great in a vehicle. When not joining his person on adventures, Ghost is happy to snuggle, loves to be brushed, get belly rubs and is happy to allow you to clip his nails and clean his ears—he loves all attention! He enjoys playing with all dogs, but is very selective when it comes to sharing his home with another pup so it is recommended he be an only dog and just have doggy friends for play dates. Ghost also does well with older respectful kids who have grown up with large dogs. Ghost sustained an injury as a puppy, which is believed to be the reason he does not care for cars or motorized equipment. Like most Pyrs, Ghost takes his job seriously as the protector of his home and family. He is super smart boy, quick to learn new commands, loves toys and is treat motivated. He is especially fond of peanut butter stuffed in his favorite Kong and will be happy to clean out the peanut butter jar when it is empty—so don’t be too quick to throw it out or he will pout and give you sad eyes. Ghost is quite the dramatic character when he wants attention. He is curious, and even nosy at times, and loves to “steal” anything with paper, so keep your mail high, but give him those paper cardboard rolls, and you will make his day :) The perfect family for Ghost would have large breed experience, a large, secure fenced yard to run and play in, and be active and up for the next adventure—what do you think, would you like to meet this sweet boy?

NYS Registered Rescue # RR102

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.

If you can't foster or adopt at this time, please consider helping our Neediest Cases or making a tax-exempt donation by visiting our Donate page.

Please complete the adoption application and visit nationalpyr.org to learn more about Pyrs and our adoption process. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a non-profit, tax-exempt rescue who has been rescuing the breed for 15 years.  Visit nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed.
